‘A Trio for Visual – Guitar, Guitar and Charcoal’ was a group of improvisational performances, it was a collaboration between two musicians, two photographers/ videographers and an animator. The performances were part of an inter-disciplinary project that worked with animation, improvisation and scores with a focus on medium and material. One version consisted of a looped animation that was played on the projector, this acted as a graphic score from which the musicians would perform on guitar. The artist would then either use charcoal to draw on a roll of paper, using our improvisation as if it were an auditory score. Another version used live animation on the projector instead of charcoal on paper. Through the performance we created a socio-material assemblage exploring the interconnections between the materials we worked with, our own human bodies and the space itself.
