‘The Creag’ is a composition of field recordings from Ferry Wood, a 40-acre ancient Atlantic oak woodland and temperate rainforest on the west coast of Scotland, with the voices of Ed and Carina who have spent 9 years restoring the woodland from a rhododendron invasion. We listen and walk through the recovering forest spotting lichen, liverwort and honeysuckle, querying the histories of entwined trees and mapping the familiar and unfamiliar routes up to the Creag Cailleach as the wind rises to its peak.
‘The Creag’ was played for two weeks as part of Fango Radio’s Off-Air transmission hosted by Francesco Toninelli.
